Part of our success is due to the fact that we are so good at keeping the in-game injuries to a minimum. Here's how we do it.
- Zero Contact - This includes no stripping the disc from the other player, or reaching your hand in front of the player (very dangerous). Give the opponent some space when trying to defend or intercept.
- Dangerous Cuts - A cut is when you make an acute turn to get open for the disc. Be mindful of your surroundings when you cut so you don't do 180 turn into someone. Again, the assistant organizers will be available to help teach you how to make safe and effective cuts.
- Minimize Hucking - Hucking, or field-length throws, are discouraged to minimize potential contact. We also try to avoid clumping by encouraging players to keep a steady pace.
- No Cherry Picking - Cherry picking is a strategy where one player hangs out in the end-zone, with nobody around. This encourages hucking and defeats our purpose of all-inclusive and encourages competitiveness.
- Avoid the Floater - A floater is when someone throws the disc high in the air. This tends to get about 3 or 4 players rushing together to grab the disc in a high jump contest - read: major collision!
